Step 2: Create Your Character
When you first connect, you'll be guided through character creation:
1. Choose a Name
Pick a fantasy-appropriate name for your character. Avoid modern names, numbers, or offensive terms.
2. Select Your Race
Each race has unique stat bonuses and abilities:
- Human - Balanced, versatile, bonus skill points
- Elf - High dexterity and intelligence, magic affinity
- Dwarf - High constitution, resistance to poison and magic
- Half-Elf - Mix of human and elf traits
- Gnome - Small but clever, good at magic
- ...and more!
3. Choose Your Class
Your starting class determines your initial abilities. You can advance to higher tier classes as you level up.
4. Roll Your Stats
Your attributes (STR, DEX, CON, INT, WIS, CHA) affect everything you do. You can reroll until you're happy with your stats.
Step 3: Essential Commands

Step 4: Your First Adventure
The Training Grounds
New characters start in a safe area designed to teach you the basics. Take your time to:
- Practice combat on training dummies
- Learn your starting skills and spells
- Get basic equipment from the newbie gear room
- Read the signs and help boards
Leveling Up
Gain experience by:
- Killing monsters appropriate to your level
- Completing quests
- Exploring new areas
When you have enough experience, use train to level up!
Learning Skills
Visit your class guild to practice skills. The more you practice, the better you get!
💡 Pro Tip
Use consider <mob> before attacking. If it says "Death will thank you for your gift," run away!
Step 5: Grow Stronger
Once you've got the basics down:
- Learn the tactical combat system - Postures, wounds, fatigue, and initiative
- Plan your class progression - Tier up to more powerful classes
- Join a group - Team up with other players for harder content
- Explore the world - Each area has unique challenges and rewards
